'A simple hairstyle'

Alissia Donato’s hair has seen it all. The Dubai-based model – a natural brunette – has gone blonde, red, black, violet, blue and yes, even pink-tipped at one point. The styles? Curled, coiled, straightened, blunt cut, natural, curly … the list is endless. “As a model you have to accept that you are like a canvas and the make-up expert the artist. The final look actually lies in the artist’s hands,” says Donato. But when she’s the artist herself, which hairstyle does she prefer? A simple one.

Says Donato: “I’ve got naturally wavy hair and I love to wear it just the way it is – slightly curled, carefree and natural. I find it very feminine and pretty. I like the look. Contrary to the straight and cold image, soft curls talk for themselves.

“When I put it up, again I like to go along the lines of simplicity by pulling it straight back into a high ponytail. This sort of a hairdo where the front part of your hair is straight and slick and the ends bunched to blosom out in soft curls is so very feminine.”

When it comes to hair colours, Alissia prefers her natural brunette.

“Dark hair definitely adds a touch of mystery. However, I think the blue-black looks quite unnatural and rigid. I’ve experimented with my hair a great deal because I’m a funky kind of a girl. I’ve changed the styles and colours so many times, I’ve lost track. But now I have decided that I like it just the way it is. Simple.”
