I am writing this letter so that Gulf News can help fight for me in what I deem as unfairness rendered regarding my money. I had taken a credit card from Emirates NBD back in 2006. The card expired in April 2010 and I neither renewed it, nor requested for a replacement.

The saddest part is that up until now, I get a deduction from the bank every month, ranging from Dh400 to Dh1,000. Last month, Dh700 was deducted from my salary. I went to see them but I could not get any help. I am desperate, as they take my money without me having any knowledge about what for, and there is nobody at the bank who can give me a concrete answer.

Kindly help me sort this out once and for all.

From Mr Sugath Liyanage

Dubai

The management of Emirates NBD responds:

We are pleased to inform you that our Group Customer Experience team contacted Mr Liyanage and resolved his complaint to his satisfaction.

We have investigated the customer’s query and found that his last purchase on the card was on April 6, 2009. However, the full outstanding balance on the card had not been paid and due to this, and as per the terms and conditions of the Credit Card, late charges, billed finance charges and over limit fee were levied on the card.

As a service gesture for the customer’s relationship with Emirates NBD and on an exceptional basis, the Bank has arranged to waive off the current outstanding on his card.

We would like to reiterate our commitment to providing superior service to our customers and thank you for your continuous support in providing us with the opportunity to resolve their issues.
