Garbage skips provided in Sharjah's Industrial Area 2 are inadequate for volume of rubbish generated by commercial units and residents

The issue of excessive rubbish and overflowing waste is highlighted in Gulf News community reports almost every month. Yet the problem remains. I have noticed that no matter what area or emirate we take into consideration, the situation is just as bad.
These pictures are of the BMW road, in Industrial Area 2 of Sharjah. I came across this rubbish bin that was overflowing.
The bin was so full that people had dumped their waste on the pavement and on the road.
Furthermore, the rubbish bin itself was in poor condition.
It was too small to accommodate the excessive amounts of industrial, residential and commercial waste of this area. As seen in the picture, the bin is overflowing with empty cans of paint, barrels, containers, old furniture and other waste.
In addition, there are many restaurants and cafeterias in this locality that add to the amount of rubbish.
The area is in urgent need of larger bins that can accommodate high volumes of waste. The situation is at its worst on Fridays when the municipality makes only a single trip to collect waste and empty these waste bins. The rubbish is left to rot on the roadside under the scorching heat of the sun. This causes inconvenience to everyone in this area and is unhealthy for residents.
Through my community report, I would like to bring to the attention of municipality officials concerned that new dustbins should be installed and the rubbish should be cleared more frequently.
They should also increase the number of municipality workers deployed in the area.
Another solution could be to install separate bins for residential waste and commercial waste.
A separate one solely for the purpose of disposing old furniture might also help curb this issue and keep the area clean and hygienic.
Lastly, I urge residents and those working in this area to kindly dispose of their waste in an appropriate manner, rather than leave it lying on the road. I do not understand why we fail to accomplish such minor tasks.
Why are we lacking civic sense? We all have a responsibility towards our environment and we should not take it for granted. It is high time that we learned to act with a sense of civic responsibility.
