Sharjah's Abu Shagara area is blocked by used cars
In the Abu Shagara area of Sharjah, one often finds used cars parked in long rows, without registered licence plates. The sidewalks are also used to park cars.
The situation bothers me as the sidewalks are called 'footpaths", not "car paths" after all!
The people who stay in this area include women and children, who are forced to walk right on the main road because of the vehicles.
Pedestrians have the right to use the footpath and it is very dangerous for people to walk on the street.
Unfortunately, the owners of the used car showrooms do not seem to care. They sit on the main roads, with a cigarette in one hand and coffee or tea in the other.
After work, when we return home and look for a parking space, we do not find any due to these second-hand car showrooms. This problem does not just occur in one place - the situation is the same all around the Abu Shagara area.
The authorities in Sharjah must take immediate steps to relocate used car showrooms and move them away from residential areas.
