Some heavy vehicle drivers do not follow lane discipline
It is quite disturbing to see heavy vehicles, trucks, vans and school buses on the fast lanes of the busy roads of Dubai. Every day I come across these vehicles blocking the path of other vehicles. Motorists have become reckless and impatient due to the fault of heavy vehicles, who occupy the fast lane and drive at slow speed.
My friend happened to take a picture while we were driving on the roads of Al Ghusais, heading to office. Motorists try to manoeuvre their vehicles away from the heavy trucks because driving next to these vehicles is really dangerous.
Even if you try to get their attention so that they move into the slow lane, they do not budge. Some will irritate you intentionally by blocking your way and turn a deaf ear when you honk. We know how bad the traffic situation is during peak hours and motorists trying to squeeze in from the wrong direction doesn't help.
Why don't the authorities implement timings for these heavy vehicles so that even the truck drivers can get a break from their busy schedules?
I believe the authorities can come up with innovative ideas to curb this issue on the roads. Once they set up a rule that has to be observed, it will be followed.
