Urgent need to protect children from falling prey to terrorism.
The horrendous tragedy of Peshawar must be taken as a wake up call to all nations of the world that still believe in humanity and a peaceful coexistence. While expressing our grief and pain for those innocent children who lost their lives in the attack, let us hope that all necessary precautions are being taken at an international level. With that said, all governments need to work to prevent a repeat of such massacres in their own respective areas.
The government of Pakistan and its army must be appreciated for the late but effective measures they have eventually undertaken to control genocide from spreading and escalating any further. It is unfortunate that the lives of the innocent children of military personnel had to serve as an alarm bell for initiating such much awaited actions by the hitherto hesitant government and the army.
However, it would be another disastrous danger to believe that the ongoing actions in reducing the number of these wrongly indoctrinated and misguided elements could eventually put an end to the spread of their murderous instincts. Equal attention needs to be given to the danger that more and more youngsters are being inducted every day to replace the vacancies left by their seniors.
The traditional tutoring and promotion of the doctrines of hatred and intolerance, though difficult to stop, needs at least to be controlled at the childhood level. Hence, sincere supervision is needed at the primary school levels to ensure that as in the rest of the civilised world, children are inculcated with the positive spirit of a peaceful coexistence and tolerance. After achieving this, we can move further to infuse the noble principles of compassion for all co-creations, though apparently different from themselves.
