Stop holding my money

I have had a personal loan with Emirates NBD for monthly dues of Dh5,985 on the 30th of every month. As per the bank policy, they have to deduct the due amount two days prior to the salary credit, as my salary credit date is on the 1st or 2nd of every month.

But, the problem is that every month, they are holding my loan amount, twice or thrice. I raised this issue at the bank’s branch five times and there has been no response.

I am helpless and need the support of Gulf News to sort this out.

Either they have to change the date of my dues or give me clearance to switch to another bank without charges.

From Mr Seddiqi Hussain Abdul Salam

Dubai

The management of Emirates NBD responds:

We are pleased to inform that our Group Customer Experience team has been in touch with Mr Abdul Salam and resolved the matter to his satisfaction.

We wish to clarify that as per the bank’s normal process, customers’ EMI due date is set two days prior to the salary date. Since Mr Abdul Salam is not able to maintain enough funds in his account on the EMI due date, and since he is committed to his payments, the Bank has exceptionally amended the personal loan EMI due date to the date on which the salary is getting credited to his account, in order to avoid recurrence of the matter.

We would like to reiterate our commitment to providing superior service to our customers and thank you for your continuous support in providing us with the opportunity to resolve their issues.

Mr Abdul Salam responds:

Thanks for Gulf News’ action and response. My concern is very clear: I am not talking about any due date change. The only thing is that I do not want them to hold my loan’s due amount twice or thrice every month and keep on calling them to release my money. The bank doesn’t understand this, since after stating the above, they are saying the issue is closed.

They did not confirm that they would never put my money on hold.

The management of Emirates NBD responds:

We are pleased to inform that our Group Customer Experience team has been in touch with Mr Abdul Salam and resolved the matter to his satisfaction.

Further, we wish to clarify that the Bank confirmed to the customer that his Personal Loan EMI date has been changed to the 1st of every month, so a hold will be placed for the same in case the funds were not available in his account. This has been conveyed to him and he was satisfied with the results.

We would like to reiterate our commitment to providing superior service to our customers and thank you for your continuous support in providing us with the opportunity to resolve their issues.

Mr Abdul Salam responds:

Thanks for Gulf News’ cooperation in taking the necessary action. In August, the problem did not happen because of the issue being raised. They have committed to the fact that it will not happen in the future.
