Vehicles park on the hard shoulder to drop off people at the Metro station in Jebel Ali
There is an immediate need for a service lane off Shaikh Zayed Road heading towards Jebel Ali.
I have noticed cars, buses, trucks and vans stopping on the hard shoulder to drop people off so that they can catch the Metro at the Nakheel Harbour and Tower Metro Station.
There is a huge line-up of vehicles, especially between 5.15pm and 6pm everyday, that pull onto the shoulder, causing a major hazard.
Passing cars travel at around 80km/h and many motorists who stop on the shoulder swiftly move onto Shaikh Zayed Road without waiting for speeding cars to pass by, which could lead to disaster.
By providing a service lane for vehicles to park, it would solve this problem. I request the authorities to survey the area and take immediate action as there is ample space for such a facility.
