Selfish Dubai motorists ignore the simple principle of courtesy
Does patience pay? I'm not too sure, but often I am the one paying for it just because I am a keen and honest observer of Dubai's road rules.
Many motorists who think following regulations is beneath them always try to jump the queue and edge in from the right lanes at busy traffic signals. They ignore the rights of fellow motorists who are already in a long queue.
Most of them do not even bother to ask politely or request to enter the lane as a favour. On the contrary, they show arrogance and rudeness, as if they are the kings of the road. For people like me, the long queues never seem to end, all because of these selfish motorists.
Traffic signals keep changing from one red light to another, leaving me consoling myself by taking pride in the modified phrase "charity begins on the road"!
I have seen Dubai Police clamping down on these errant drivers. However, much more needs to be done to end this menace and uphold the old saying - life is a journey, enjoy the ride.
