Residents request parking relief from authorities

The residents in the old Tourist Club Area (sector 15 of Mawaqif) are again facing trouble parking their vehicles after a brief respite. When Mawaqif was introduced in the area, parking started to go smoothly. However, all of a sudden, we started to see large machines digging into our parking lot from one end to another.

For more than a year and a half, residents have been parking their cars on the roadside, pavements and bumper-to-bumper because of construction work along the road.

Now, they are doing road work in almost three sides of the area - from one end to the other. It is believed that they are fixing the new drainage pipelines, which will take at least another two months to finish.

Unfortunately, only the parking lots for residents were excavated and the public parking lots are still the same. All the residents in this area are suffering and struggling to get a parking space for their vehicles even after six in the evening. Most people end up spending about over one hour roaming the streets for a parking space.

I would like to request the Mawaqif authorities to add more parking lots for residents only. Parking lots alongside the mosque and behind the nearby restaurants can be converted for ‘Residents only’, at least for the time-being.

I hope Mawaqif authorities will take immediate action to solve the parking problem for residents of this area.
