Gulf News reader encourages others to start recycling
I took these photographs in the Karama area of Dubai. This lane has many furniture stores and trading companies. They throw a lot of recyclable materials like cardboard, cartons, plastic items and foam in the trash bins.
There are a lot of recycling bins and facilities in Karama close to all the bus stops and at the entrance of a nearby hypermarket. I fail to understand why people are not using them even though we always discuss and talk about the three Rs — reuse, reduce and recycle. Are we following them?
Recycling the items saves energy and reduces our carbon footprint. Additionally, recycling can convert waste material into valuable resources. So I urge everyone to recycle and make a difference.
