During a walk in the morning with my son in the Al Nasserya area, Sharjah, I was shocked to see how the playground (pictured) was littered with plastic bottles, chips packets and general rubbish.

I realised that the people who littered the place were blind to their responsibility of keeping the place neat and clean for others. Additionally, the people responsible for maintaining a clean surrounding seem to be oblivious to their duties.

There aren’t enough places to take our children to play and for ourselves to have a stroll. To top it we have existing parks maintained poorly and the people who visit these parks are unable to maintain basic dignity in keeping the place fit for use.

A heartfelt plea to everyone — please take care of your surroundings as you would of your own home.

The Earth is our home. Promise to keep it healthy and beautiful.
