Just one person can make a difference
Driving through Ajman on a Friday afternoon, I took a short rest in front of a taxi stand, situated just in front of a popular shopping centre.
This particular taxi pick-up area caught my attention because of the disciplined behaviour of waiting passengers and equally well-behaved road users.
A good Samaritan was also amongst the commuters and seeing the rush of travellers every time a taxi arrived, he asked them to form a queue. He then guided them into orderly rows, till his turn arrived. I found that once the queue was formed - even after his departure - the commuters followed his lead and continued to wait in line for the next taxi to arrive.
The taxi stand witnessed total peace and harmony, perhaps for the first time. Congratulations sir, whoever you are.
If a common man such as this good Samaritan helped make a difference to his community through a simple act, why can't all of us do so, too? All one has to do is begin with goodwill and use one's common sense.
