Jaywalkers find new shortcuts

On Hamdan Street in Abu Dhabi, I took this photograph of a broken fence, which has been deliberately damaged so that pedestrians can jaywalk across the street. The funny thing is that in this area, there is a subway for pedestrians to safely cross the road.

I think that a strong and very high fence needs to be built in order to protect people from jaywalking. Even families with small children cross the road through this broken fence, risking their lives and the lives of their children.

I hope authorities are doing the best for the safely of people on the roads, but some members of the community are breaking the fences. The same type of fence is broken near a mall in the area as well. The authorities need to take notice of these incidents.
