Helping keep the environment clean

When participating in Dubai Municipality’s Clean up the World drive, which took place last week, Gulf News reader Firoz Motorwala said the efforts of residents bore fruit.

“I took part with my children because this was a wonderful opportunity to create awareness about keeping the environment clean. We were about 30 to 40 people, cleaning up Al Naif area, but there were hundreds more who were watching our efforts while passing by — it was all about creating awareness.”

The community reporter said the amount of litter that needed to be picked up was overwhelming. “There was too much garbage on the streets — cigarette butts and empty containers everywhere. I hope more such initiatives take place, as it really helps highlight the issue.”
