Garbage bins chase Abu Dhabi visitors away

Shopping in the old Tourist Club Area of Abu Dhabi is no longer a pleasant experience

Whenever I go shopping in the old Tourist Club Area in Abu Dhabi, I see people tossing large amounts of rubbish into garbage cans that are meant for light trash, like lunch wrappers, and water bottles.

The waste bins give off such a bad smell that one cannot sit on the benches they are attached to.

The reason for this stench is because the public does not know how to use such facilities properly.

They just dump all kinds of trash in these bins, not making the effort to deposit their rubbish in the big municipal waste bins, conveniently located throughout the emirate.

Due to this, I feel such benches should not have waste bins attached to them.

These benches were put in place to encourage the public to sit, relax and enjoy the area. However, people’s ignorance and irresponsible behaviour has made it so no one can spend more than two minutes near these garbage bins.

I appreciate all the authorities have done to make the emirate a better, more beautiful place, and it is sad to see how such facilities are misused.
