Lack of open areas has seen them to play in unusual places
A lack of safe, open play areas for children means they invariably end up playing wherever they can. Gulf News reader P. C. Omar said the subway in Hamdan Street, Abu Dhabi, was a popular spot.
He said: “Children are told not to play inside subways because they know the public is [wary] of being hit by a ball. They play in crowded, dimly lit areas. In fact, some parts of the subway are in (complete) darkness due to the lack of maintenance of lights.”
He urged the authorities to take note.
