Italian fashion designers Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana staged their first ever fashion show in the Middle East at The Dubai Mall’s Fashion Avenue on Sunday night. Called Day & Night, the show, which also featured special looks for Dubai, was also a celebration of the pair’s Dolce & Gabbana store, which opened in March in the mall.
From intricately decorated evening gowns in pink peony, orange, yellow and blue chiffon, to more masculine, contemporary and sporty tuxedos, the collection featured more than 120 international models showcasing more both men and womenswear.
“We love Dubai very much. We are extremely excited to come back. It is a dynamic city with thousands of attractions: you’re able find everything you want. It is a modern and cosmopolitan metropolis where you can shop for spices, fabrics, carpets, typical objects... everything we love,” Gabbana told Gulf News tabloid! ahead of the show.
Partner Dolce added: “We have just opened a boutique in the Dubai Mall that reflects what we are, our identity. There’s a bit of everything, the black of the marbles, the gold, the precious damask fabrics we adore. This space is an interpretation of our soul, with the dreamlike atmosphere and warm colours of the Middle East,” said Dolce.
Dolce & Gabbana was founded in Milan in 1985 and has made a name for itself as a billion dollar brand over the past 33 years.
