An engineering graduate who turned singer-songwriter, Momina Mustehsan is perhaps the youngest female artist in Pakistan presently who has earned a great deal of fame in a matter of only a few years.
It all began with Awari, a ditty she recorded for the then underground band Soch in 2014. The track was included in Mahesh Bhatt’s blockbuster Ek Villain. Later, the Afreen cover with Rahat Fateh Ali Khan happened in Coke Studio, and the rest, as we know, is history.
The 25-year-old crooner is currently in New York where she is said to be taking a course in filmmaking at NYU. Now that’s going to be another feather in her cap. She was also invited by New York’s Stony Brook University, her alma mater, to receive the ‘40 Under Forty’ award. It is said to be an award that is given to the university’s 40 most accomplished graduates under the age of 40 who have demonstrated achievements in the fields of business, research, technology, health care, arts, etc.
Mustehsan clinched the honour in the category of Civil Service and Activism.
