After the debacle of her second feature film — last year’s Dobara Phir Se (Yet Again) — it seems the director of award-winning TV dramas, Mehreen Jabbar, has decided not to go down that path again. Not for now, at least. Her next project is a film for the small screen, titled Dino Ki Dulhaniya (Dino’s Bride). As the title also suggests, the telefilm is a fun caper.
Produced by 7th Sky Entertainment, which is spearheaded by Abdullah Kadwani and Asad Qureshi, DKD stars Sana Javed and Feroz Khan in the lead, along with veteran actress Shamim Hilali.
Fans of Javed and Khan, who loved them in Khaani and the romcom Romeo Weds Heer, must be happy to see them back together on screen.
While we don’t really know if comedy is Jabbar’s forte — remember the lukewarm sitcom Coke Kahani (2012) which didn’t tickle a single funny bone? — we trust writer Yunus Butt to deliver the goods.
