Bollywood superstar Salman Khan has set his eyes on Abu Dhabi again.

Close on the heels of filming his action thriller Race 3 in Abu Dhabi, Gulf News tabloid! can reveal that Khan and director Ali Abbas Zafar will return to the UAE capital for their partition drama, Bharat.

There’s also a good chance that Priyanka Chopra, who plays a crucial role in Bharat, may also head to the UAE along the crew.

According to industry sources, the team behind the historical drama, which chronicles a single man’s (played by Khan) journey from the India-Pakistan partition to the present day, highlighting significant events during that time, are planning to spend over 60 days in the UAE capital.

It’s not the first time that Zafar and Khan have filmed together in Abu Dhabi for long periods. Their blockbuster Tiger Zinda Hai, a hit spy drama, was shot partially in Abu Dhabi where the city was dressed up as war-torn Iraq.

“We needed a country that could support us infrastructure-wise. We needed a huge amount of military and army support. Choppers, trucks, tans and aircraft had to be all provided for,” said Zafar in an earlier interview with Gulf News tabloid!, while he was promoting Tiger Zinda Hai.

Bharat also stars Disha Patani.

Abu Dhabi is fast turning into a magnet for filmmakers and actors with ambitious Bollywood projects such as Saaho, Race 3 and Bang Bang being shot there.

TwoFour54, the Abu Dhabi-based media company that facilitates shoots and permits, declined to comment.
