Mohit Marwah’s big fat Bollywood wedding in Ras Al Khaimah on Tuesday night with his long-term girlfriend Antara Motiwala was a star-studded affair. Around 550 guests, including the Bollywood star’s relatives Arjun Kapoor, Sonam Kapoor and Sridevi, and producer Karan Johar, have flown into the UAE for the two-day bash in the Waldorf Astoria.

While the guests are revelling and enjoying the wedding celebrations, there’s an army of more than 100 working towards the smooth flow of events. Getting hitched without any hitch seems to be their mantra.

When Gulf News tabloid! caught up with Dubai-based event designer from Fete Events who is in charge of the Marwah-Motiwala wedding, they claimed that their two-day bash filled with Bollywood stars was going as per plans.

“Both the bride and the groom wanted their wedding to be impactful and out-of-the-box. All the guests in this wedding are well-travelled and have wide exposure, so we wanted this event to be a memorable for everyone,” said Sahiba Narang, the commercial director of Fete Events.

Each of the pre-wedding rituals such as the mehendi (henna night) and the sangeet (music) ceremony had distinct themes.

“The mehendi yesterday afternoon had a Latin American theme and it wasn’t your typical mehendi ceremony. Instead of the golden brown mehendi we had white mehendi and there were Mexican accents everywhere,” said Narang.

But the decor for the sangeet ceremony held in a huge canopy outside had another theme.

“The colour scheme was black and rose gold and we had created a star-lit dance floor with glass. The best part was the Arjun Kapoor and Rhea Kapoor played emcees to the family skit. It all worked out well and looked very elegant. We had huge chandeliers and floral arrangements for the night,” said Narang.

Narang, who has been in the business of decor execution along with her partner Mallika Singh, claims that her latest high-profile wedding was high-pressure but hugely gratifying.

“We worked on four major bashes during the wedding and each one had a unique twist,” said Narang.
