Dubai: Legendary Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan was mistaken for movie star Salman Khan and the internet couldn’t handle it.

With a career in the Indian film industry spanning almost five decades, one would think that the actor would be easily recognised.

However, to shoot his upcoming movie “Badla” the actor is in Glasgow, Scotland. A passer-by mistook Bachchan for Salman Khan, while walking along a street.

The Bollywood superstar @SrBachchan tweeted about his encounter on Thursday, June 28: “T 2850 - I walk the street of Glasgow by myself .. until a car drives by and occupant yells out ... ‘hey Salman Khan how you doin’....“

Bollywood fans were surprised at the confusion.

Replying to Bachchan’s post, Amit Agrawal @amit_agrl tweeted: “How can someone not differentiate between You and Salman from any angle. #CelebrateBachchan”

Tweep Mohan Sharma @mohanbharati posted: “Shocking..... it’s either ignorance or arrogance or foolishness that someone would do this. Glasgow is a lovely place @SrBachchan Ji.”

Rakhi Oberoi Malik @titli29 tweeted: “They sure are and trust me I love Salman too! But Amitabh Sir’s aura has been magnanimous and he has been around much longer than Salman - it cannot be taken as a case of mistaken identity! They both have their own standing and stature!”

Some thought that getting mistaken for Khan shouldn’t be a problem. Tweep @AliMohammed1472 posted: “Both are legends, what is wrong if someone refer him as Salman Khan.”

Others replied to Bachchan’s tweet with anecdotes of their own of getting confused for someone else.

Twitter user Rahul da Cunha @RahuldaCunha wrote: “I was in Cairo once, sir, when everyone would say to me,’You’re Indian, aah Ameetabh Baaashan’. Last day, a shopkeeper says to me’ You’re Indian, aah Jackie Chaan!’

And Tweep Satyajit Sahu @satyajits was just happy to know that the megastar was able to enjoy a walk without getting swamped by fans: “Just happy that some place he found in the world, where he can stroll in public without being mobbed.”
