The highly anticipated American Horror Story crossover is coming a year early.

Co-creator and executive producer Ryan Murphy tweeted on Thursday that the mash-up of season one’s Murder House and season three’s Coven will debut this September, becoming the eighth season of the FX horror anthology.

“AHS #8 WITCHES RULE THIS SEPTEMBER,” the four-time Emmy winner wrote.

Murder House (2011) revolved around a haunted house in Los Angeles, and Coven (2013) was set in a New Orleans boarding school for witches.

It is unclear how the change-up will affect the previously announced eighth season, referred to as AHS: Radioactive, which Murphy teased in April. (Or if Radioactive and the crossover are one and the same.)

FX reps declined to comment on Friday.

“You will see so many fan favourites return that you’ll feel like it’s The Love Boat,” Murphy recently told Entertainment Weekly of the upcoming season. “It’s a very high concept. It’s a season unlike anything we’ve done because there’s a big hook to it. There’s a huge thing that happens in episode five.”

Recurring anthology stars Sarah Paulson and Evan Peters are expected to be among those returning.
