The family-centric web series Who Needs a Passport? has been renewed for a second season by The Meydan Hotel, with two episodes uploaded to YouTube already.
In the first season of the original production, audiences followed the adventures of everyday couple Derek and Lilian, who had to salvage a vacation gone awry, featuring Derek’s unpredictable mother Emma. Season two will pick up where season one ended; this time, Emma has a mysterious announcement to make.
Laura Quirke, Stuart Richard and Christina Blu will reprise their roles as Emma, Derek and Lilian for more whacky family shenanigans.
The series reached over a million viewers across social and digital channels. It utilised the Meydan Hotel and the Bab Al Shams Desert Resort & Spa as its backdrops.
“We wanted to showcase to the world what guests can expect when they stay at The Meydan Hotel and Bab Al Shams. We settled on the idea of a web series with professional production crews and talented actors,” said Reuben Mifsud, cluster general manager at Meydan Hotels & Hospitality.
“Most importantly, we wanted to create funny, fast-paced and engaging content that we hoped audiences around the world over would enjoy. We’re all looking forward to seeing what Emma, Derek and Lilian get up to next,” he added.
The first two episodes of season two have garnered over 90,000 collective views on YouTube.
