It’s two days to the Middle East Film and Comic Con, and ladies, you’re probably freaking out about your cosplay costume right about now. But we’re here to tell you it’s not a lost cause, because there’s nothing a quick trip to the mall and a little bit of quick thinking can’t fix. So, here are five easy cosplay ideas that will see you coast through this weekend, getting your stylish geek on.

Jessica Jones

Krysten Ritter as Jessica Jones.

For an effortless do, Marvel’s Jessica Jones — the super sleuth with superpowers and a member of the Defenders clique — comes first to mind. A busy woman, Jones likes to keep her wardrobe simple; throw on a black or white plain tee, distressed jeans, black combat boots and her iconic black leather jacket, and you’re good to go. To go that extra mile, use a black wig, wear a permanent scowl and speak in fluent sarcasm.

Star Trek

Zoe Saldana as Uhura in ‘Star Trek Beyond'.

Join the Federation by putting together your own Starfleet uniform. First, depending on which department you see yourself in, pick a colour. Golden, for those at the helm/command, red for operations, engineering and security personnel; and blue for medicine and science staff. Most of our favourite Star Trek women, including Deanna Troi (Star Trek: The Next Generation) and Uhuru (Star Trek Beyond) have been famously seen in red uniforms. Once you have the colour down, pick a silhouette you’re most comfortable in; anything from jumpsuits and knee-length shirt dresses to gowns will do. All you need to complete the look is a pair of black boots: knee-length if you’re going for the shirt-dress, or regular ones for the jumpsuit. Hardcore fans will already have an insignia badge/communicator pin stashed away somewhere. But making one shouldn’t be difficult, for the crafts-inclined and not.

Scarlet Witch

Elizabeth Olsen as the Scarlet Witch.

One of the characters we’ve loved watching grow in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch, who supposedly has an even larger role to play in the upcoming Avengers: Infinity War. Over the years, as her character grew stronger and more complex, it was also reflected with subtle changes in her costume. But for those who are looking to keep it simple, go back to her first official introduction in Avengers: Age of Ultron. A simple black dress, paired with black knee-high socks and boots, and a blazing red leather jacket, and voila, you have Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch.

Gender-bend Han Solo

Harrison Ford as Han Solo.

If you want a doozy but still want a quick turnaround, then let me point you to the smartest scoundrel in the universe, Han Solo. All you need is a beige V-neck collared shirt, dark brown/black pants and his trademark sleeveless black vest. You’ll find a version of his blaster pistol at your nearest toy store, for sure. To complete your look, convince your partner or a friend to go as Chewbacca with you.

X-23

Dafne Keen as X-23 in ‘Logan’.

If you managed to catch Hugh Jackman’s farewell to the X-Men franchise film Logan last year, X-23/Laura Kinney (played by 11-year-old Dafne Keen) must have caught your eye. For this little mutant berserker’s outfit, you’ll need denim jacket and pants, a T-shirt with a rainbow/unicorn (a plain grey tee if you don’t have either), red boots and a green rucksack. Her adamantium claws (two per hand) can be easily put together with cardboard or resin (don’t forget to give them a metallic colour finish). To complete the look, throw on a pair of pink sunnies and munch on Pringles as you walk around the venue.
