Emirati singer Eida Al Menhali will be one of the headlining performers at the Mother of the Nation Festival, to be held from March 22 to 31 at the Abu Dhabi Corniche.

The annual event pays tribute to the living legacy of Her Highness Shaikha Fatima Bint Mubarak, Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation, Chairwoman of the General Women’s Union, and President of the Supreme Council of Motherhood and Childhood.

Al Menhali is also a composer and poet and is known for performing poetry without musical instruments, a practice known as Al Shallat. He released his debut album in 2002, entitled Mahma Jara, which enjoyed massive success, and has since released six albums, and gone on to perform across the Gulf.

The 10-day event will also feature more than 100 workshops and activities. Highlights include performances by Khaleeji heartthrob Mohammad Al Shehhi, Emirati comedian Ali Al Sayed, Jordanian band Hayajan and dance troupe Dancing Fire.

The festival is open from 4pm to midnight during weekdays, and 2pm to midnight at the weekend. Tickets are priced Dh15 for children and Dh25 for adults. The full schedule is on www.motn.ae.
