Qatar Creates and Maison Valentino have just opened the new exhibition “Forever Valentino” now on view in Msheireb Downtown Doha. As the largest ever devoted to the Maison, and the first in the Middle East, this major exhibition pays homage to Valentino Garavani who founded the iconic fashion brand in 1959 in Rome.

The Eternal City plays a huge role in Garavani’s life and as such influenced the scenography of the exhibition, which covers the history of Valentino to coincide with the founder’s 90th birthday. “Forever Valentino” features more than 200 Haute Couture pieces and prêt-à-porter outfits presented together with accessories which include rarely seen ensembles created for modern icons such as Elizabeth Taylor, Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis and Zendaya.

As an added highlight the exhibition includes pieces from the private collection of HH Sheikha Moza bint Nasser.

Curated by fashion journalist Alexander Fury, Valentino’s Creative Director Pierpaolo Piccioli, as well as New York-based Italian curator and art critic Massimiliano Gioni, the exhibition is sure to be a hit with visitors to Qatar this season, with all eyes on Doha in anticipation of the FIFA World Cup.

In addition to co-curating “Forever Valentino”, Gioni has recently also curated the major solo exhibition “Jeff Koons: Lost in America” in Doha at Qatar Museums Gallery. “Working on a fashion exhibition is an absolute exception for me and I couldn’t think of a better opportunity than presenting the work of Maison Valentino and collaborating with Pierpaolo Piccioli, Alexander Fury and the many great teams that have made this exhibition possible,” he said.

“Working in Doha is always very special: it’s a place where dreams of artists come alive and working on this show has really been somewhat of a dream, or perhaps a ‘capriccio’, a flight of fantasy that only in Doha could become a reality.” Added Gioni

As an extra highlight “Forever Valentino” features pieces from HH Sheikha Moza bint Nasser’s private collection. “I am proud that we are welcoming the public to an exhibition that is as imaginative, glamorous, and elegant as the subject itself: the creations of Maison Valentino,” she said.

Tickets for the exhibition can be purchased at www.qacreates.com and visitors can view the exhibition at Gallery 1 and 2, M7, in Msheireb Downtown Doha until April 1, 2023.
