Milan Design Week 2022 has opened and will take place from June 6 through to June 12, in the Italian city. It’s been as many as three years since a full-scale event that has attracted this level of participation.

The Salone del Mobile Milano, or the Milan Furniture Fair, is now in its 60th edition. Over the decades it has become one of the planet’s pre-eminent design fairs - today, it has become an event that hosts as many as 2,000 international exhibitors.

However, what’s more important is the fact that it has become a melting pot for ideas and creativity. Especially those circling around sustainability when it comes to design and manufacturing.

In its 60th year, Milan Design Week remains one of the most prominent event of its kind.

As part of the proceedings, there will be a series of exhibitions and events, which will be held across the city. Expectedly, there will be several design spaces. And, there will be talks held with international luminaries in the design world.

Celebrated fashion designers such as Issey Miyake are also part of the event, where his creativity will be on display. He collaborated with Tatsuo Miyajima to create an experimental exhibition. It is a prism into how creativity transcends furniture, architecture or fashion design and unites these seemingly disparate worlds.

The artwork by Miyake is meant to represent time and life and revolves around the numbers one through to nine. The main premise of the collaboration is to promote experiences of using art as an apparel in one’s everyday life.

There are several other stunning displays and sections at the event and if you’re a design aficionado, this is not the one to miss.

Watch this space, there will be several updates on this global iconic design event in Italy.
