At a star-studded launch event in Madrid, Spain, Cartier hosted the world premiere of the French luxury company’s newest High Jewellery collection.

The gala, held in an 18th century estate, was attended by Black-ish star Yara Shahidi, Youtuber Emma Chamberlain, South Korean girl band sensation Jisoo, and Iranian actress Golshifteh Farahani amongst others, with music provided by the Black Eyed Peas.

Inspired by the natural world, the flagship of the collection has to be the Apatura necklace, with its shimmering colours suggestive of delicate butterfly wings. Cartier’s designers looked far and wide for stones that matched the colour requirements, incorporating diamonds, orange sapphires and sapphire beads, and opals.

The Récif necklace, meanwhile, takes its inspiration from coral reefs which is immediately evident - Cartier’s designers used diamonds for the ‘atoll’, and orange and green for a harmonious balance of a coral’s fauna and flora.

As for the striking Iwana necklace, it might be our favourite piece dominated by 43.45-carat Colombian emeralds to evoke the skin of a green iguana.

Furthermore, within the latest Beautés du Monde collection you will also find the Capsule collection consisting of seven rings, again, with the natural world playing its part in the design theme. Each ring is meant to represent the beauties of the universe from the depths of the oceans to the furthest reaches above. The seven ‘treasures’ that form the Capsule collection include: Homer’s mythological creature, the chimera; an ammonite fossil; a sea monster; a constellation; a geological crystallisation; a Chinese puzzle; and finally, a crustacean shell…
