Virgil Abloh conceived this ‘Fall in Love’ collection before his death in November last year, inspired by the 1970s New York loft party scene

The legacy of Virgil Abloh carries on even after his passing in November last year, as the legendary designer posthumously presents yet another collection. Abloh is said to have loved live, loud music, reminiscing of the days in the 1970s when New York was abuzz with its famous loft parties hosted by American disco jockey David Mancuso, arguably the first-ever DJ, to conceive an entire line of menswear before he died.

Exploring alternative New York in the 1970s has resulted in Abloh’s new Louis Vuitton pre-spring 2023 line, which has been completed by Maison’s creative teams and collaborators who used to work closely with him.

Called ‘Fall in Love’, the collection is a complete wardrobe with lean cuts and snug-fitting jackets, plus of course, flared trousers because no ’70s look is complete without flares.

Louis Vuitton is also embracing rollnecks in combination with suede, fusing sound and fashion with embroidered over-shirts and monogramed tops. The shoes, too, are inspired by the early DJ party scene reflecting the ‘70s with slight platforms. There is a sueded boot and a square-toed loafer, plus soft-leather dancing shoes to stay under the lights in comfort throughout the night.

The ‘Fall in Love’ collection is complete with accessories, featuring bags made of denim and leather, a backpack, a foldable tote, and a messenger bag. It’s everything today’s man needs to feel the nostalgia of the inclusive spirit of the ‘70s.
