You would think that associating a cold, vast, airport hangar deep into the European winter with a summer collection isn’t the most usual of combinations, but Jacquemus isn’t just any fashion label.
Prior to the show the label’s founder and designer Simon Porte Jacquemus gave his 5.2 million followers on Instagram a fright with some solemn words against a black background, “Dear all, the show of tomorrow will be my last one…” After the panic Jacquemus had a laugh on our expense. Scroll to the right and he added, “… of the year.”
The Maison’s spring-summer 2023 show, entitled ‘Le Raphia’, was presented at Le Bourget airport outside Paris, as models walked out in mini shorts, bathing suits and straw hats while a storm lashed the hangar outside.
The earthy tones prevalent in the ready-to-wear collection are signatures of Jacquemus, showing looks featuring natural colours and textures, his signature oversize hats and tiny bags.
