Cairo Design Week launches its first edition this November 19 running to November 25 and shining the lights on Egypt as a major Middle East design destination
It’s the inaugural year of Cairo Design Week as Egypt’s premier creative event launches this November 19 in the affluent and historic Heliopolis district of the city, with an exciting line-up of local and regional exhibitors.
Over a week of events, exhibitions, panel discussions, competitions and many more creative meet-ups, Cairo Design Week is putting Egypt on the map as one of the must-visit design destinations in the Middle East.
The ultimate aim is to support local artists and bring their bodies of work across to a wider audience, to increase exposure, and invite participation from the public to positively impact both the Egyptian economy, and the country’s creative community.
Some of the biggest names in Egypt are supporting Cairo Design Week, with a line-up of exhibits that includes Korba District, Fashion Design District, DeForum, Cairo Designathon, Esorus, FMD, Designdustry, The Design Show, Azad Art Week, and Creative Industry Summit.
“The Cairo Design Week will be a cornerstone event that puts Egypt on the map as a destination for art, creativity, and design and aims to attract those communities from all over the world to discover, fall in love, and be eager to work with Egyptian creators,” said Hisham Mahdy, President of the first edition of Cairo Design Week. “We want to empower and support the emerging young talent in the industry by enabling this platform to be a springboard for the exposure of their work for years to come. The opportunity to launch Cairo Design Week is a step that encourages artists to elevate Egyptian art and design, and highlight the role that Egyptian craft has always played throughout history.”
The week will be crowned with a closing ceremony to honour designers competing in different categories for the prestigious Cairo Design Awards 2022, with an all-star jury selecting the winners.
