Dubai: Met with an accident in the UAE? Police authorities have rolled out smart services that make it easier for motorists to report minor traffic accidents, which do not involve any human injuries, through smartphone applications.

If the accident took place in Dubai, you can report the minor car accident via the non-emergency hotline 901 or Dubai Police website - www.dubaipolice.gov.ae or the Police Eye service available on the Dubai Police mobile application.

To raise awareness on reporting minor car accidents, Dubai Police promoted it’s services through it’s official social media channels on Tuesday, October 4.

The Ministry of Interior’s smartphone application – MOI UAE – which is available for Apple and Android smartphones, offers the service for motorists in Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Ajman, Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah and Umm Al Quwain. Here is how you can use the Ministry’s service.

How to report a minor traffic accident via the Dubai Police app

Reporting a minor traffic accident through the Police Eye service on the Dubai Police app is a straightforward process and can be done in a few simple steps:

Step 1: Download Dubai Police available for Apple and Android devices.

Step 2: Once you download the app, you must give the Dubai Police application access to your current location. You can do this by accepting the access or go to your phone setting’s privacy section and allow the Dubai Police app to detect your location.

Step 3: Once you have downloaded the app, go the menu which is at the bottom of your mobile screen, and click on the round green tab labelled, ‘Police Eye’

Step 5: Tap on 'Traffic Reports', which is the first category. Then you will be presented with two options: ‘Vehicle obstruction’ or ‘We Are All Police’

Step 6: There will be an active map, depicting your current location. To report, upload a picture of the accident or the damage on the vehicle.

Step 7: After uploading the picture, fill in the vehicle code letter and plate number.

Step 8: After submitting the necessary information, tap on the ‘Report’ tab. Once you have reported the accident, you receive a notification from the app with the accident’s report details.
