Instagram finally adds a mute button
Ever wanted to stop seeing someone's Instagram posts and stories without offending them?
You can now ignore people on Instagram without offending them. The new feature means that certain people can stop showing up on your newsfeed, and the best part is, they will never know about it.
This feature existed on both Facebook and Twitter, but was never available on Instagram.
Such a feature has been present for a long time on rival platforms like Twitter. But it has never been available on Instagram, forcing people either to see boring posts or risk upsetting people by unfollowing them.
Here’s how you can mute someone on Instagram:
- Tap the “...” menu button in the corner of the post.
- Then choose whether to mute posts, or mute both posts and stories from an account.
- Another way to mute stories is by pressing and holding on a story, then the option should appear.
The new mute feature will primarily be available to just a small number of iOS users, but will then be made available to all Instagram accounts worldwide.
