Dubai: If you love karak chai, head to the Global Village on January 25, when it attempts to break the Guinness World Records title for the largest cup of hot tea in the world.

According to Global Village’s official website, the tea cup on display is 4.7 metres tall and will hold 4,500 litres of the brew. The cup will be available for viewing until February 1.

On the day they attempt to break the record, 120 chefs will be working together for several hours to make the large quantity of karak tea, a popular drink in the UAE.

All the tea will be served for free to guests visiting Global Village. Up to 45,000 cups will be distributed and people can visit the venue to experience a taste of the record-breaking tea.

And that’s not all.

If you’re planning to go in a big group, you can have as much karak chai as you want for free. Bring your own teapot or flask and ask the staff for a refill.

To achieve this difficult target, the chefs will be using vast amounts of water, 155kg of tea powder, 300kg of milk powder, 380kg of sugar, 7.5kg of cloves, 155kg of ginger, 47kg of cinnamon sticks and 47kg of cardamom powder, says the venue’s official website.

Will you be a part of this attempt to break a world record?

The Global Village actually achieved that feat on Thursday, January 25, 2018, based on this media statement from the management.
