Dubai: If you have been to City Walk recently and come back without dining at Silver Fox, you will never know what you you missed. Set in mahogany and marble, this new classic 272-seat American steakhouse offers a gastronomic experience that you wouldn’t forget in a hurry. The service is seamless, atmosphere upscale and the food a carnivore’s delight.
“We serve USDA prime steaks and that’s what sets us apart from other steakhouses,” the eatery’s general manager Fikri Issa told us as he showed us a table near a live fire feature. The USDA (United States Department of Agriculture) grade shields are regarded as symbols of high-quality American beef.
To whet my appetite I ordered a French Onion Soup (Dh30) while my partner settled for a Silver Fox salad (Dh40). Both good choices. Thick and creamy with a hearty mixture of caramelised onions and cheese, the soup tasted divine. The salad was also delicious with plenty of fresh veggies and eggs.
But it was their steak you just can’t avoid falling in love with. Steakhouses in Dubai rarely do greaseless-flame grilling. Not Silver Fox.
Juicy and perfectly pink on the inside, their extraordinary melt-in-the-mouth Bone in Ribeye (Dh350 for 18oz) was top notch. The flavours were rich and complex and the meat so tender you could sink a knife through it.
The menu features an assorted mix of seafood, but steaks run the gamut from fillets to tenderloin tips and strips. Prices range from Dh160 to Dh180.
Also hugely recommended is their Vegetable Raviolli (Dh75). Packed with the goodness of spinach and cheese, it got such an emphatic nod of approval from my partner that I couldn’t stop myself from tucking into his plate.
We rounded the meal with a towering slice of orange cake, another must try. At just Dh35, this skyscraper of a cake has few parallels in town – reason enough for me to visit Silver Fox again.
