Scottish actress and former model Karen Gillan will be attending the Middle East Film & Comic Con this year.
The seventh edition of The Middle East Film & Comic Con (MEFCC) will run from 5th to 7th April, 2018, at the Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC).
Karen Gillian
Karen Gillian, best known for her role of Amy Pond in the British sci-fi TV series, Doctor Who, the girl who waited first crashed onto our screens as Matt Smith’s first companion. Since, then Karen has debuted on the big screen as Nebula in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 1 and Vol. 2, and will be returning again this year for Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity War.
Her latest film, JUMANJI, is still on screens and is reporting great box office figures.
Carice van Houten
Joining the celebrity roster this year is Carice van Houten, well known for portraying the infamous Red Witch in Game of Thrones. Having also had lead roles in Paul Verhoeven's award-winning Black Book, Bryan Singer's Valkyrie opposite Tom Cruise and as Melisandre on Game of Thrones.
Karl Urban
One of the most recognisable faces in Hollywood and an actor with impressive star power, Karl Urban has played beloved characters across genres. Urban played Doctor ‘Bones’ McCoy in the latest Star Trek trilogy of movies; Judge Dredd of Mega City One; and the fearless Eomer from the Lord of the Rings movies.
His list of memorable performances goes on with the Riddick movies, RED, Doom and his latest role as the torn Skurge in Thor: Ragnarok. Karl is someone every pop-culture fan knows and loves and he is finally making his way to MEFCC.
Adam Kubert
For comic book fans, the 2018 MEFCC will also provide the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to meet the legendary Adam Kubert. Recognised as one of the seminal artists in comic book fandom for his run on Wolverine, Weapon X, The Incredible Hulk, Ultimate X-Men and Action Comics, Adam continues his impressive work with the recently relaunched, back-to-basics Spectacular Spider-Man.
Adam will be at the event to meet fans, sketch and autograph prized possessions for them, in another first for the Middle East Film and Comic Con.
Jason David Frank
Perhaps one of the most recognisable Power Rangers, Jason David Frank is adored by fans for his portrayal of Tommy Oliver, the original Green Ranger. He played that role, and several other Rangers, in multiple seasons of Power Rangers for over a decade. In fact, Frank has been such an integral part of the Power Rangers universe that he even made a cameo appearance in the 2017 film Power Rangers, as a citizen of Angel Grove. Frank has been wanting to meet his fans in the Middle East for many years and is primed to visit Dubai in 2018.
Together with appearances by regional and international personalities and celebrities, MEFCC 2018 will also feature exclusive merchandise and comics, workshops, screenings, musical performances and other activities.
