Dubai: The Mohammad Bin Rashid Establishment for Young Business Leaders has collaborated with Dubai Global Village to offer an opportunity to 62 small and medium enterprises (SME) to be part of the fair that runs until February 21.

The current edition of the Global Village started on November 12, 2008.

Abdul Baset Al Janahi, CEO of the Mohammad Bin Rashid Establishment for Young Business Leaders, thanked the Global Village management for the opportunity it had given to the SME sector.

"This opportunity signifies the support and encouragement of the Global Village for UAE nationals. It promotes the development of new business and provides them with the opportunity to offer unique services to the Village visitors. The participation in Global Village is very rewarding for SME as it provides low-cost space and allows them to showcase their products and enter the retail world. Services such as the one offered by the Global Village are fundamental to the growth of small and medium-sized enterprises," said Janahn

The Global Village management offers special discounts and benefits to SME members in an incentive to encourage their participation and to support UAE nationals and provide them with the opportunity to establish their own businesses.

The activities of the participating organisations vary to meet the requirements of Global Village visitors. Currently, there are 20 food stalls and 25 non-food stalls offering a variety of garments and accessories, perfumes, abayas, bicycles and fishing equipment for sale, apart from traditional handicrafts. In addition, there is an exhibition for reptiles, mammals and Shaabiyat Al Cartoon, as well as open spaces for children's games, renting and leasing of shopping carts and horses, and the UAE Village.

"This is the first time I have participated in the Global Village. It has been an excellent experience. My participation has increased my knowledge and given me the opportunity to meet with my SME colleagues. I would like visitors to come and look at what we have to offer. Our products are of high quality and reasonably priced," said Kaltham Bekheit Joumaa, owner of Orked scarves (eila).

"I hope SME members will be able to receive further discounts to encourage them to participate in Global Village for years to come. At Biskotati, I offer a range of hot and cold drinks that I prepare myself. I am delighted that these have proved so popular with the visitors to Global Village," said Mona Obaid Khamis Salmein, owner of Biskotati.

"As an SME owner, I received a great discount from the Village. As a result, I rented two shops this year. This is the second year that I have participated and I look forward to participating long into the future," said Badria Ali Mustafa, owner of the Gelato shop for Abayat, winner of the Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Establishment for Young Business Leaders Award for 2008.

"I do not own a shop to showcase my products; therefore I seized this opportunity and participated in Global Village ... I would like to thank the Global Village management and Mohammad Bin Rashid Establishment for Young Business Leaders, for all the privileges and facilities they provided us with," said Salim Abdullah, owner of a navigational equipment company.
