Coldplay to perform New Year’s Eve in Abu Dhabi

British band Coldplay will perform at du Arena, Yas Island, on December 31, organisers confirmed on Sunday.

It will be the band’s second New Year’s Eve gig in the UAE and their third gig here altogether since 2009.

Coldplay, a piano-rock band, formed in 1996 under the questionable name Pectoralz followed by Starfish. Taking on their current identity, they rose to fame with their single Yellow. They’ve topped the charts since with hits such as Clocks, Fix You and Viva la Vida.

Tickets go on sale at noon on November 30 in Virgin Megastores and ticketmaster.ae. A presale for du customers begins at noon on November 28 and ends at 11am on November 30.
