Come October, the UAE’s capital has an auditory feast on the menu. When Abu Dhabi Classics returns for its eighth season, it does so with the more than six-decade-old Camerata Salzburg Orchestra, who are accompanied by violin virtuoso Renaud Capucon, and French harpist Xavier de Maistre.

“Abu Dhabi Classics has become a highlight in the Emirate’s cultural calendar, playing host to an incredible line up of internationally acclaimed classical musicians and artistic performances,” said Dr Ronald Perlwitz, head of music, arts department at the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi, which has organised the festival. “The eighth season will offer residents and visitors a unique opportunity to experience and enjoy the magical world of classical music and we look forward to welcoming audiences for the eighth season.”

And what better way to kick things off than with Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s concertos? On October 12, the orchestra will undertake Mozart Violin Concertos 4 and 5 in addition to Satie’s Gnossiennes at the Emirates Palace.

Other tunes that will ripple through the evening are composed by French artist Erik Satie.

Master harpist Xavier de Maistre, meanwhile, is to woo the crowd with two performances on December 6, at Manarat Al Saadiyat on Saadiyat Island, and December 7 at Bin Hamoodah Fort in Al Ain.

He is scheduled to play a programme inspired by Spanish classical music, mixing impressionist and modernist accents by focusing on the French composers Debussy and Faure.

Tickets to Camerata Salzburg with Renaud Capucon on October 12 at Emirates Palace start at Dh195; Tickets for Maistre’s shows on December 6-7 begin at Dh100.
