Abu Dhabi Classics has announced another couple of high notes in its upcoming season. The cultural extravaganza, which kicks off its eighth season on October 12, has signed up for dance lessons.
On November 9, on Abu Dhabi’s Emirates Palace, performers from institution La Scala Academy Rising Stars will perform three pieces: Suite from Bayadere, followed by Gymnopedie and Napoli.
And come April 19 of next year, Chinese pianist Ran Jia, whose interpretative abilities for the piano work of Franz Schubert have had a hypnotic effect on her audience, will play Schubert’s Sonata in D major D850, Daqun Jia Three Preludes for Solo Piano and Schubert’s Sonata in B flat major 960.
The two acts join an already star-studded line-up that includes works by the Camerata Salzburg Orchestra, violin virtuoso Renaud Capucon, harpist Xavier de Maistre, and the Bayreuth Festival’s international opera debut of Richard Wagner’s The Valkyrie.
Abu Dhabi Classics is organised by the Department of Culture and Tourism — Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi) under the patronage of Shaikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the UAE’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
Tickets to La Scala Academy Rising Stars on November 9 start at Dh195 and to Ran Jia on April 19, 2019, at Dh100.
