Diff 2017 Young Journalist Award open for entries

For the 10th year in a row, Dubai International Film Festival, in partnership with Gulf News, will offer student writers in the UAE the chance to report from the front lines of the city’s premier film event.

A group of budding reporters will be chosen to cover the festival in its entirety. The candidate who shows most potential and skill at the end of the eight days will be awarded an internship with Gulf News tabloid!.

The initiative is open to university students and those in their final year of high school.

“We are proud to reach a milestone tenth year of the Young Journalism Award, which thanks to the support of Gulf News, offers a unique, real-life training opportunity that results in more learning in one week than many media students will receive in a year,” said Diff chairman Abdul Hamid Juma.

Mohammed Almezel, the managing editor of Gulf News, said the newspaper is proud to give aspiring young journalists the opportunity to learn with “some of the best reporters, photographers and editors in the UAE.”

“We also take pride as a media organisation in partnering again with Diff, which has established itself as one of the most anticipated artistic events in our region,” he added.

UAE nationals and residents in their final year of high school, or currently enrolled in a university in any major, can enter the 10th Diff YJA Award. Candidates must be able to attend Diff from December 6-13. They can register by emailling their resumes, a copy of a current passport/visa page and a review on the last film they watched to press@filmfest.ae by November 20.
