Robbie’s Supersonic Rocket musical explores bond between boy and his grandfather

Robbie’s Supersonic Rocket, a musical based on a children’s book of the same name by Hazel Hiles, is scheduled to play in Dubai next month.

The high energy musical, suited for children between the ages of 3 and 12 years, explores the special relationship between an eccentric and inventive grandfather and his young grandson.

Robbie is in awe of Grandpops who has an amazing shed where he invents all sorts of exciting things. It’s Robbie’s birthday and Grandpops doesn’t disappoint… he builds Robbie a rocket to explore space with Moggy the cat.

They shoot off into space and discover not only the planet Zod but also some strange little creatures.

After playing in Dubai, Robbie’s Supersonic Rocket will move to the UK for a world tour.

Hazel and Andy, the writers, have been collaborating for 17 years and have worked in the UK, Kuwait and Dubai.

Prior to teaming up, Andy was a professional trombonist who has performed on stage and worked in Repertory Theatre and for the Royal Shakespeare Company. Hazel worked in professional theatre writing and directing adults and children and also set up two very successful Youth Theatres in Worcestershire and Yorkshire.
