RISE AND SHINE
On weekends I like to wake up with coffee and my stash of fashion magazines to see what’s trending. For brekkie, my husband Aakash and I like to go to Culinary Boutique. Their lavender goodies are yum!
FOODIE FINDS
When we lived in NYC, walks around the parks or eating out at our favourite hotspots on the weekend was how I caught up with family and friends. In Dubai we like to find hidden gems to dine at. I live in DIFC and I have to say Zaroob is the perfect late night hang-out – the food is authentically Arabic and the vibe is fun! Plus it’s just a two-minute walk from my house.
GO YOGA
I love to work out; if your body is healthy, then so is your mind! Yoga and Pilates are my favourites – I can relax and let my mind shut off. Both during the weekday and over weekends exercise is me-time.
BORN THIS WAY
I was born and raised in India where rich textiles, hand embroideries, and exquisite jewellery are hard to escape. But I’d also like to believe that I was born into a world of art and design. At 17 I launched a successful shoe range too.
FRIDAY ROBES
I have previously designed for DKNY. I love its simple lines and minimal cuts so I find myself wearing a lot of it over the weekend. They’ve the perfect pieces to dress down, and dress up with just a pair of high heels. I also love high-street labels like Zara.
FAME GAME
Seeing my designs on Bollywood celebs such as Malaika Arora, Lara Dutta and Alia Bhatt is quite thrilling. So Shru had only been available for three months when Alia Bhatt’s stylist contacted us on Instagram – at first I thought it was a joke, until we actually spoke to her and Alia wore So Shru on her press junket.
NEW YORK MINUTE
For a long weekend trip I’d jet off to New York to visit my family and friends and indulge in some real street food – specifically NYC pizza! The streets of NYC inspire me, especially the women who always look so effortlessly glamorous. It is something I try to embody in So Shru’s collections.
BUYING HAPPINESS
I love online shopping (my credit card not so much) and that’s why I started my own online store. For a fun browse on the weekend you’ll find me logged into Net-A-Porter. There’s also a pair of SJP heels I spied on Instagram and I’m obsessed with it. My husband recently gifted me a Chanel Boy bag. I felt so spoilt!
TELETHONS
On weekends when it’s too hot to step out, I like to indulge in marathon sessions of Netflix. My favourite shows are Making a Murderer and Chef’s Table. I can watch these two without a break.
