Rajat Tangri is a fashion designer, but it is shoes that are his obsession – he has 300 pairs
PUPPY LOVE
My golden retriever Hash is the love of my life. The day I adopted him is a favourite memory. That, and the day I received my fashion degree from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology, Australia.
STAR SIGNS
I’ve been very fortunate to have received a lot of love from Bollywood actors such as Shriya Saran and Priyanka Chopra. Fashion was my second love. I aspired to be a chef or an artist. As a kid I would always offer my mother input while she got ready.
FOODIE
If I wasn’t a designer I would have been a chef. I love cooking and baking. But I’m a vegetarian so I decided being a chef probably wouldn’t be a great career move as my food preferences limit me. I recently visited Bahrain and loved its Japanese restaurant Bushido.
TAKING IT EASY
My weekend activities include sleeping late and brunch with my parents, with whom I live. They’re my support system and biggest inspiration. Then I go out for shopping and a movie.
ENTERTAINMENT
As a fashion designer this will sound clichéd, but my favourite film is The Devil Wears Prada. I can watch it over and over again. Play anything by Lana del Rey or Adele and I’m instantly relaxed. I also love painting. It helps me unwind and de-stress.
HAPPY PLACE
I travel for fashion shows and exhibitions [he was in Dubai recently for the Numaish exhibition] but my favourite getaway is close to home in Karjat, a scenic city that’s a three-hour drive from Mumbai. My friend owns a stunning farmhouse there and we all gather and stay over there on weekends.
TAKE NOTES
I love shopping for fragrances. For daytime wear, I enjoy Valentino’s fresh notes and subtle hint of cinnamon. Come night-time, I stick with Blue de Chanel. That’s a scent you can never go wrong with.
SHOE-HOLIC
Dubai to me is a shopper’s paradise – and I love shopping! I recently blew money on a pair of Nicholas Kirkwood shoes. I am obsessed with shoes – I own around 300 pairs.
