I like staying sharp style-wise
I always have a pair of black trousers, black leather shoes and jacket in my car so I can go anywhere at a moment’s notice. In a city like Dubai you can never be overdressed and I like to dress for the occasion! I love the way Pierce Brosnan looked as James Bond. These days Matthew McConaughey and Bradley Cooper are my style icons.
My Fridays start by sleeping late. I love my weekend lie-ins because I wake up early on weekdays to exercise. I then head to the kitchen to whip up a breakfast, which I eat by the pool.
I admire
Master chef Sanjeev Kapoor and American business magnate Warren Buffett – they’re two of the most enterprising men in the world. Sanjeev is the Amitabh Bachchan of the culinary world; an institution in himself. Warren is the person I’d like to spend a Friday with and get to know better because his entrepreneurship has always impressed me.
I treasure...
The stunning Omega watch my wife Kritika gave me for my birthday this year. It’s my most prized possession.
My job is my passion
Over the years I’ve been a radio jockey, a TV presenter (I’m a Foodshala judge), a producer (I own a production company) and now a food critic, which is definitely the role I enjoy most. I’m happy I could turn my passion for food into a living. What’s better than having the best food in the world served to you and not having to pay for it?
Fridays are for eating out with loved ones
I believe that a family who eats together, stays together. On Fridays I ensure I spend quality time with family and friends and luckily Dubai has the finest restaurants in the world. I don’t have a favourite but I love eating out at Tresind, Zuma, Le Petite Maison, Coya, Junoon and, of course, Signature by Sanjeev Kapoor.
The book on my bedside is embarrassing, but I’m reading Erich Segal’s Love Story and I often find myself getting teary-eyed. Kritika twisted my arm to read it and it’s a fantastic book.
Bella Italia
On a dream Friday I’d head off to Italy in a heartbeat with Kritika to The Grand Hotel Villa Serbelloni, in Bellagio on Lake Como. We absolutely loved it the last time we were there and have some beautiful memories attached to the place. The hotel’s Michelin-starred chef Ettore Bocchia cooked us delicious meals that I will never, ever forget.
Not without my iPod
At the weekends I can’t live without my iPod Touch. I catch up on music, TV and news from around the world on it and even fall asleep with the headphones on. I was listening to Let’s Get Ridiculous by Redfoo all last weekend. It captures the essence of Dubai – nothing is impossible in this city where anything you dream of can become a reality.
