I graduated three years ago and would like to do an MBA programme now in the US. When should I start applying to colleges?

MBA programmes act as bridges between your past and your desired future. In addition to an undergraduate degree, the prerequisites for applying are a strong GMAT/GRE score, at least two years of work experience, and demonstrated leadership skills and community service.

The application process for top MBA schools tends to be extremely demanding, requiring you to write in-depth essays about yourself, your work, reasons for selecting the programme and what you expect to gain from it. The best colleges also interview shortlisted candidates, requiring further preparation. Thus, it is best to start preparing 12-18 months before the intake date.

These programmes are generally expensive, but should be viewed as an investment that pays off in a few years due to the higher salary you will receive as an MBA graduate. The skills that you receive and the network you build will help in you in getting management positions at many companies.
