Bhavesh Rawal: Boring courtyard is now chill-out lounge.Step out onto the spacious patio of Bhavesh Rawal’s villa in new Dubai and the first design element that is likely to catch your attention is the set of stone steps that trace a no-frills pattern on the lush green carpet of faux grass. A smart food and beverage counter stands at one end supporting a couple of elegant juice dispensers and containers while a large owl garden decor piece, its saucer-shaped eyes strangely mesmerising, squats next to it..A minimalist garden with a clump of bamboo shoots and some plants is positioned next to the counter while some sections of the walls are draped with patches of greenery adding to the sense of the outdoors. Across the counter is a gazebo housing a set of comfy chairs and a couch with bright covers and pillows that gently blend into the surrounds. Snuggling in the corners of the yard are more garden accessories, a smartly designed table to seat four and, a little away, a barbecue set that is waiting to be fired up.. "But I must say the entire family, including my two kids, Divya and Anmol, love every aspect of the makeover.". It has to be the conceptualisation. Each and every corner of my balcony was used very well and the accessories that have been added, such as the plant pots, only make it look all the more natural and pretty," says Rohit Jain..The father-of-two and resident of Dubai Townhouse in Al Qudra area is pleased with the way Danube Home refurnished not just the balcony, but his entire four-bedroom home..A district manager for a multinational corporation in Dubai, Rohit is full of praise for the interior design store for refurnishing his home, particularly the 11sqm balcony, to suit his taste perfectly.."The crew from the design store redesigned my home interiors, including putting a false ceiling," he says. So satisfied was Rohit with the work that he had no second thoughts on inviting Danube Home to spruce up his balcony too, one of the favourite areas of his home. "The way they did the interiors, the way they gave my living room a completely refreshing look... I was extremely satisfied. From the faux grass carpet, the creepers on the rails to the carefully selected potted plants positioned appropriately, the team worked on boosting the outdoor-sy feel, adding nifty outdoor accessories. Smart and sturdy garden chairs and a coffee table were included as was a hanging egg chair, the last-minute demand by his two daughters Mlaahi and Myra. By the time the workers were done with the balcony it was almost unrecognisable from what it had been. Exuding a park-like ambience, the balcony is now one of the most favourite spots of the family. "Truly, I enjoy spending time here with the family," says Rohit..Given the change in the weather, Rohit and his family have started using their furnished balcony much more of late. "We are looking forward to the Covid crisis blowing over so we can invite some friends over for a get-together. Nothing like spending time with friends in a comfortable cool space like this," he says..Shetal Patel: A zen-like experience in my balcony.Shetal Patel was clear about how she was expecting her balcony to look when she contacted the team at Danube Home. "I wanted the balcony to have a relaxing ambience with a natural touch to it," says the IT professional. "I wanted to experience a feeling of spending time in nature – surrounded with greenery… quite like relaxing in a garden but in my balcony." The minimal accessories elevate the area giving it a clutter-free, zen-like ambience..The resident of Dubai’s JBR says that Danube Home took on board the brief she provided them for the space and turned it as close to what she envisioned it to be. "They developed the concept and designed it well; that was the best part for me," she says..Shetal reiterates that the makeover team understood her requirements well. "They understood what I was looking for and then they came back with some design options to give me the feel of a garden, but in a balcony.". It was immensely helpful.".From the bright green grass carpet, the carefully curated potted plants, the greenery on the walls of the balcony to the cosy two-seater couch snuggling next to a coffee table, not to mention the two single seaters with brightly coloured covers, the balcony was the perfect space for the family to spend a relaxing evening or a leisurely weekend, what with the weather changing for the better now..What did her family have to say about the makeover? "The family was amazed. They just love it," she says..Clearly they are going to be spending these cooler times outside..Shaikh Sahid Hossain: Garden makeover with a new gazebo.Few things give Shaikh Sahid Hossain greater joy than watching his children happily run about and play on the trampoline while he and his wife relax and enjoy their newly refurnished patio – a 390sqm area in his Al Furjan villa in Dubai. "I must say, they got everything perfectly right," says Hossain, his voice resonating with happiness..Danube Home did a makeover of more than just the patio; they also refurnished the terrace..So what is his favourite part of the makeover? "The terrace," he says, although he is quick to add that the patio too, deserves praise. "From the garden makeover to the selection of the props to designing the new gazebo, they did everything really well." The lively vibe that the area now gives out encourages him and his family "to love to spend the evenings here", he says..While Danube Home did the complete project, the gazebo clearly takes centrestage and grabs the attention. Tastefully erected at one end of the patio, it is illuminated with a set of lovely lights that hang from the ceiling. Comfy couches, a modern coffee table, a few accessories with light touches of bright warm colours all combine to make the interiors perfect for relaxing on a cool evening. A swing chair and a set of garden chairs are perched on the periphery for those who would like to lean back and admire the stars on a cool night. Clearly, it was as close as he had envisioned it..Hossain is looking forward to spending more time in his patio with his family now that the mercury has started slipping south.
