Jo Bo Ah shares breaks silence on Knock-Off delay amid controversy
After South Korean star Kim Soo-hyun was caught in a controversy that upended his entire schedule, the status of his upcoming show Knock-Off stands in limbo. His co-star Jo Bo Ah, opened up about the show and the delay to AllKpop.
She said, “I’m being very careful. What I say might hurt someone, so I’d like to hold back a bit.”
She continued: “Knock-Off is a project we all worked hard on. Everyone was enthusiastic, and it’s filled with love and effort. I hope that someday, people will recognize that work and that it will have a good outcome.”
Kim Soo-hyun was accused of being in a relationship with the late Kim sae-ron, when she was still a minor. Furthermore, he also allegedly pressured her to pay off her debts, which was reported to have pushed her into depression. The actor broke his silence on the subject, and gave a tearful press conference, denying all the allegations.
Jo Bo Ah also spoke about her show, Tangeum, a mystery meldrama set in the Joseon era. The story follows Hong Rang, the long-lost son of the nation’s most powerful merchant family, who returns after 12 years with no memory. Only his half-sister, Jae Yi, suspects he may not be who he claims to be—yet strange, indescribable emotions begin to grow between them. Tangeum marks Jo Bo Ah’s first drama release since getting married.
“We filmed for about eight months, and it wrapped around May last year. Now that it’s finally being released, it feels special. I was single when we filmed, and now I’m married, so it feels different. They say marriage is the start of a new chapter in life—maybe that’s why, watching it now, it feels like a younger Jo Bo Ah is on screen. A lot has happened since then,” she explained.
